What is the Purpose of This Test?
The PSA Profile measures levels of free and total prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the blood to assess prostate health, detect prostate cancer, and monitor treatment effectiveness.
When Does One Need to Get This Test Done?
If experiencing symptoms like difficulty urinating, frequent urination (especially at night), blood in urine or semen, pelvic or back pain, or painful ejaculation.
As part of routine check-ups for men over 50 years old, or earlier for those at higher risk due to family history or other factors.
To monitor prostate health during or after treatment for prostate conditions.
Pre Test Information
Avoid ejaculation, sexual intercourse, and vigorous exercise for 48 hours before the test.
Inform your doctor about any medications you are taking, as some may affect test results.
Test should not be performed immediately after procedures like cystoscopy, digital rectal examination (DRE), or prostate biopsy.
