Test Name: Widal Test (Slide Agglutination)

Also Known As: Typhoid Test, Enteric Fever Test

Purpose:

• Detects antibodies against Salmonella typhi bacteria to diagnose typhoid and paratyphoid fever

When to Get This Test Done:

• symptoms of typhoid fever, such as high fever, headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea

• After traveling to areas where typhoid infection is prevalent or being in close contact with infected individuals

Pre-Test Information:

• No special preparation required

• Fasting is not necessary
